Music has always been the one thing in my life that has been constant but at the same time ever changing. I know that does not make sense. I love all genres, and I know that does not make sense either. However, I was playing around with recordings and mixing growing up. For a while there in the 1990s I had some pretty good house tracks going but a did not follow through on production. I abandoned vinyl relatively early in favor of MP3. With the help of various software I have played around for a fair amount of time. I realized that since I am not a musician by trade, making music and production might not be my strong-suit. Having said that I do possess a wicked pair of ears with a cunning ability to pick tracks. That is my forte. Trackpicking.
Electronic music has always been dear to me. My first ever LP I bought was Kraftwerk’s “The Man Machine” and the first ever single was Depeche Mode’s “Master and Servant”. Tangerine Dream, Vangelis and Jarre have been influences and I have evolved in my taste and grown with it. Early 90s I took in the Italo disco vibe, the Eurodisco and was ecstatic as I discovered The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy and The Crystal Method, KLF, Aphex Twin, Moby and Fatboy Slim to name a few - Massive Attack and the likes not for me. What do I know though? Absolutely loved the sound coming out of the UK at this time though with Axel F, those jungle/drum n bass tunes were blowing my mind. I remember picking up tapes at Camden Market in London and playing them on repeat. Drove my neighbors mad. There was an awesome gay club in Gothenburg where I lived at the time (late 90s) which played that significant London type house not really found anywhere else. You did not have to be loaded up on pills and molly to be one with the scene and just walking up the stairs to the room where the music was pumping. It always got me, magic.
Beginning of the century I feel like the Germans and the Dutch came out to play, early years with that thumping trance beat which the UK based guys did so differently. Some of that really aggressive sound, like Scooter on speed, was never my thing. By now I lived in Frankfurt and some of the clubs played that sound, not my cup of tea. I was not a big fan of dressing up in a space suit and stumbling out of the clubs at 11am the very next day like at U60311 just by Rossmarkt. It is tough sound to take, and for those on booze you probably just want to escape. Again, not your mainstream sound or club.
The Swedish house mafia guys had by now started their careers individually and I am sucker for early Axwell, I always had him down as a favorite rather than Angello and his early remixes which culminated in the banger Feel The vibe and on to Leave the World behind which was epic. It is by now I am getting into all the big DJ names and if you were a DJ from 2005 onwards on on the top 100 list you were on my radar. Some of them are bigger favs than others. I have yet to see a few of the big names play.
All in all, my musical references run the gambit. In addition, I have lived in 5 different countries which has given me an even broader concept of music. So across genres, geographies and time.
I will start to post some of the mixes I have done over the years to have them in one place. Feel free to download and share. I have used Traktor, Serato, VirtualDJ and Ableton throughout the years and for a while now back on VirtualDJ. I find Numark a little plastic so I have used Hercules DJConsole RMX2. It is no Pioneer but it does the job. If you cant mix, no fancy equipment is ever gonna make you a better DJ or remixer. But hey, enough of the ramblings - let the music speak for itself!

David bowie tribute 2016
I was very sad when David Bowie passed away in 2016. He is one of those artists that was with me from the beginning and always there. I was young and gravitated towards the “Let’s Dance” album. I thought there was some magical about the three singles that were released. That album was nominated for a grammy for “Album of the Year” in 1984 but lost out to MJ’s “Thriller”. In any case, the amount of talent that man possessed is uncanny. True legend and bona fide genius. I put together a mix the day I got the news to deal with the loss. I like the transition from Jean Genie to Dancing in the Streets about halfway into the mix. Just shy of 20 mins.

Around 40 minutes and 18 tracks so not the usual hyper active mixing. One of my absolute fav DnB tracks about 7 mins into the mix.
2011 vs 2021
So I decided to see if any improvement at all in my mixing. I took a mix a made 10 years ago, used the same tracks and remixed it. Turns out I managed to compress the length, it went from 1hr10mins down to half an hour.
